Helping your highly sensitive child navigate difficult emotions so they can feel confident and strong

Being a “sensitive” kid can feel really confusing and overwhelming. Perhaps, you’ve noticed your kiddo doesn’t enjoy things kids are 'supposed to enjoy (i.e. birthday parties, playgrounds, school, etc.), they’re constantly worried about what’s going to happen next, and they struggle to function throughout each day.

Many of the kids I support feel things really deeply and have a hard time communicating their emotions to others. But, through the work we do together, they discover their strengths, explore ways to cope and thrive as a sensitive person, and learn how to better communicate and express their feelings.

For some kids, it can feel as if this world wasn’t made for them. It’s too loud, too bright, too fast, and doesn’t feel safe. Creative therapy helps provide a space where they get to show up however they are and express whatever they’re feeling, either verbally or nonverbally, through creative tools like drawing, painting, dancing, sculpting, writing, and other expressive forms. By engaging in the process of expressive arts therapy, your child can experience a sense of control over their emotions and help make sense of what they are feeling.

I have over 8 years of experience supporting children and families with creative therapy. I'm a Registered Expressive Arts Therapist and hold additional certification in Trauma-Informed Expressive Arts Therapy. Through creative therapy, I’ll help your child discover new ways to decrease their anxiety and cope with overwhelming thoughts and feelings.

My approach integrates evidence-based practices with various creative practices such as drawing, painting, writing, and movement to help your kiddo experience, express, and understand their emotions.
